I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. It was refreshing and funny with just enough twist and turns thrown in. I enjoyed Lucy and how she would talk and analyze things. Jensen was not who I thought he would be and I loved his character. I like how straight forward Lucy is and it doesn't bother Jensen one bit and Lucy was someone he needed in his life. Overall, I thought this book was great but just a little too short. I wanted to read more about Lucy and her straightforward thinking.

Lucy is a very interesting character. She reminds me of Sheldon Cooper (from the Big Bang Theory series), although not as extreme. She talks about things in a clinical and scientific way and is absolutely straightforward and honest. She is unlike all the female characters I ever read.

The thing with contemporary romance is that I don’t expect a lot from the plot. I just want a cute love story that sticks as close to reality as possible. This book delivered. It was entertaining and unexpectedly funny. It got me rolling on my bed laughing at 3 AM (seriously).

This is mainly a romance book and I’m telling you, the romance was exceptionally good.

Most of the New Adult books I read are full of angst but this one is just a feel-good book. It is the perfect read when you just want to be happy and not stress about anything.

The quotes at the beginning of each chapter were a nice touch. It gives an insight on what the chapter will be about which made me anticipate what happens next.

This is my first Mary Frame book and after reading this, I am putting her on my radar. I love the way this was written and I enjoyed it so much. I am definitely buying the other books in this series.
Sometimes a fluffy romance that does not require a whole lot of deep thinking can be just what the doctor ordered. While this book fills that description with a somewhat predictable storyline and a few side characters that fit in the typical romance box, it is surprisingly entertaining and a thoroughly enjoyable and quick read. As I’m not terribly into romance, I was more than satisfied with this start to a series that I will be checking into later.

Ah, poor Lucy. She is the most socially inept heroine I have ever read about. She is one of those people who blow you away within thirty seconds with wildly inappropriate comments that lack all trace of human connection, such as telling a girl who is crying over her cheating boyfriend that she should get tested for STDs. That is only one of those fantastic moments, and the book is filled with them. Due to this inability to relate to people in general, genius Lucy has lost her grant at the university. At twenty she has a doctorate to go with her lack of social graces, and needs to come up with an experiment fast. What better than relationships and sexual attraction? You know it’s going to be good.

There is no one better than sexy Jensen, whose front door is perfectly and conveniently lined up with Lucy’s peep hole. Yep, she puts that to good use. He’s nursing a broken heart, trying to balance a secret life, and hoping to put off his controlling parents. Basically, the man is a mess but a beautiful one. His reaction to Lucy’s outrageous proposition – to provide her with the most intimate details of his sex life – is fantastic. In a great twist, he turns into a genuine nice guy that I loved, something rare in the romance genre. In fact, I loved him just as much as awkward Lucy.

So many romance novels follow the romance formula. Imperfect Chemistry did so faithfully but in a unique and refreshing way. At no point did I have to force myself to keep reading; I was excited and invested in a not-so-romance way. In addition to wonderfully written main characters, the socially savvy Freya is a hoot. She provides laughs many times and is the perfect match for Lucy as her first true friend. The only drawback to this gem is the lack of editing. For most of the book it is hardly a problem, but at about eighty percent it took a nosedive and has some bloopers that are a bit distracting. Since typos are a major pet peeve, it means a great deal that they did not hinder my progress.

Level of sexuality – surprisingly mild. There is some well-done action, but considering the topic and Lucy’s pursuit in sexual knowledge, it is not filthy or over-the-top.
Is there graphic language? Looking back, maybe one or two.
Did I cry? No.
Did I laugh? You bet.

Level of character development – pretty high. The book is very short and quick, but the main characters are wonderfully written and Lucy has a lot of backstory that makes her a joy to read.

This may not be Shakespeare, but it is a smart choice for any reader who wants a good laugh. Enticing characters and a hilarious plot make this one of my favorite romantic comedies. Imperfect Chemistry was a breath of fresh New Adult air. Forget the story, because to be truthful it's not that unique. I mean it's not a love story we haven't heard before. But these characters they're so unique. They're nothing like your typical NA characters. The girl is neither whiny or love struck. She's quite the opposite actually and it wasn't because she was some sassy bad as*. She wasn't even that. She was about as emotional as the grinch--and it worked.

Lucy is a scientist in every sense of the word. Everything for her is a sense of questions with researchable answers. She's been studying science since she could speak and it's literally the way she lives her life. Clinically and to the point. She has no room for emotions because she doesn't quite understand or feel them. And that was why this book was so funny. I mean you won't be splitting your sides but you'll get a laugh out of this for sure.

Watching Lucy struggle with the emotions she doesn't understand, and making friends with people she didn't know she needed--it was all pretty funny. What also made me really like Lucy and her story was that there was nothing wrong with her. Not that she was perfect but she didn't have any problems with her family. She wasn't harboring some crazy secrets, and she had a solid background. How often does that happen?

Then there's Jensen. He's a supposed man whore. He's the guy all the girls want--but he winds up being someone not even I expected, and it was so refreshing. Without giving anything away, I think readers will be pleased to see there's more to Jensen then being your typical NA bad boy.

It was just a refreshing and decent story that didn't have to do much to be good. There was no insta-love, or a bunch of drama. It was just a good story with good characters, and I can't recommend it enough if even for just not being what all the other books are.
