Darkness The Brookehaven Vampires Book 2 edition by Joann I Martin Sowles Paranormal Romance eBooks

Wow this book kicks off where the last one stops,my heart and emotions where racing at the end of Laney. Just when you think that's it for the paranormal world it expands a little more and leaves you intrigued a little more,Julz is a brilliantly written character you can feel her madness,at the same time you feel her pain, she absolutely flips in this but it fits so well but I think we are yet to get to know more about her.
Again I want and need Laney and Oliver's love its compelling, special and beautiful. Laney is thrown some challenges as all hell breaks out with Carter and her paranormal life starts impacting on her friends.
Laney's once perfect innocent world had been burst and danger surrounded her in every way, this author wrote some amazing heart felt scenes through this story they felt powerful and real,as a young woman myself once I remember a love that once consumed me and the need and the want, the jealousy off others looking at the person you love so much, but when you got lost in each other nothing else in the world mattered, this is how this series makes you feel.
Once again I can not wait to rip into the next book and have my body and mind buzzed alive with this authors writing that just sparks every emotion I have inside!

Darkness The Brookehaven Vampires Book 2 edition by Joann I Martin Sowles Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Darkness leads us further into the paranormal world that Laney has discovered surrounding her academic life, and a deeper understanding that the life she thought she had was only a small insignificant portion of what was destined to develop. As her romance with Oliver deepens, she's led into a world of love and loss, at the same time as she discovers her place in it.

Ms. Sowles’ vampires do not glitter, and apparently don’t feel that marriage is all that necessary. They “bond” …for life, and it can be dangerous. They are very fast, and they like high-octane cars. Some of these vamps are sun-phobic and at the very least, the sun is hard on their eyes, so their cars have deeply tinted glass and they are fond of dark sunglasses. But, most are day-walkers. They have fangs that, in a healthy vampire, retract into fang pockets. At least the mixed bloods do. For the pure bloods it works a bit differently. And, it takes more than a bite to turn a human; the human must drink from the blood of their attacker. They have a great sense of smell, and are apparently overcome to the point of vomiting, by the stench of freshly carved pumpkins. Who knew? Some have extra abilities, and some are just plain crazy.

Laney and Oliver's lives intertwine to produce a really fun, faced-paced read. I loved every minute of it. My only regret is that I have only one more installment to read before I have to wait for the author to complete more!
I have read both books in this series and I have really enjoyed them both. They were hard to put down which is why I gave them 4 stars. Having said that, I think it could have been much better had we gotten a little further into Laney's family story line. WARNING...SERIOUS SPOILER ALERT!!!! Do not read further unless you have read the books! Last chance to stop..........So, we know Laney has a brother, and we have figured out that her dad is the head of the coven..."D" i.e. "Draven"....soooo, why has she not been able to have a relationship with him or her grandparents, or her brother for that matter? Why has her whole life been kept a secret from her? Why is Oliver acting so strange everytime he and Laney get close to completing their "bonding"? What is he hiding, other than he obviously knows all these facts of Laney's life that she knows nothing about. An WHAT THE HECK with Carter and Keira...seriously! Keira thinks he is with Laney but is all fine again when he asks her to marry him??? I feel the book could have been 5 plus stars if even one of those questions were answered. Even if Laney would have explored the secret room in her house further, and found more out there, it would have helped. But she walked away from all of it. It just seemed to be dragging out throughout the book. I was hanging on every word waiting on something to be revealed, but it never was. And I am not really sure where the whole Julz/Oscar/Isaac....Felix/ Hayden thing is going. I will definately read the next book, and am hopeful that some of these questions will be answered.
Today's review is on Darkness The Brookehaven Vampires, #2 by Joann I. Martin Sowles

After waiting so long for this second installment in the Brookehaven series, I am left with mixed feelings. One thing for certain is that compared to Laney; in my opinion, Darkness is basically a flop.

Laney was so needy and whiny throughout the entire book, and because it has taken so long for this book to come out, I couldn't remember if she was as bad in the first one. Though there were moments between her and Oliver that were exciting, most of the time it was pretty boring.

Though the book description makes it seem bigger than it actually is, Laney did suffer from a traumatic event. Without knowing exactly who the perp. responsible is, Oscar is suspected to be involved.

After being bitten by a werewolf, Carter struggles to recover. No one in the group knows what will happen when the Full Moon rises, and when it does everyone is surprised with the outcome.

There were ample opportunities in Darkness where the author could have "run with it", but unfortunately she didn't. This, along with the massive amount of editing mistakes, Darkness shouldn't even earn 2 stars, but I'm feeling generous today.

I sincerely hope for two things in regards to the next book in the series 1. That it doesn't take as long as Darkness to come out.
2. That it get some serious editing done.
